The Hydra Place

I did another thing today. A few months ago I pulled out my Dialga Palkia DS Lite only to suddenly feel its fold loosen up. It turned out my hinge cracked just a tad. It wasn't broken and even still held its position when in the typical lock positions, but that was cause enough for alarm. There was at least one guide that showed how to remedy it a tad. So in the interest in grinding out the lower levels of repaircraft, I finally got a silicon mat (for future projects and easy organization), some superglue, tri-wings, and a dream.
It took a moment to get the screws out because the Philips screwdriver the tri-wings came with suck, but my own were significantly better. The Tri-wings themselves worked fine though.
The DS has a lot of things and stuff. Luckily I don't have to tear up the ribbons and stuff with this method at least unless I eventually replace the screens, which have a little wear on the top screen edges. Here you can see the crack a little. Camera focus sucks.
Once I sure as hell hope I did the two clicks and click back bit correctly, or I'll be very unhappy. It's probably a doomed shell if I didn't. Maybe that iridescent color shell replaces it if so...

Also these buttons suck to keep up. Wow, this sucks.
I'm just waiting until tomorrow night, probably around this time, to do the second phase of reassembling and breaking in the glue. So we'd see if it works out. I have a few other things I'd like to attempt repairing (PS2 gamepads were horrid at working apparently because I've got two of three that don't button consistently) and who knows what next before I blow myself up.

Surprisingly, this was a success. I think. Around two hours ago I set things up and started trying to reassemble the DS. That was the point I learned to hate the L and R buttons.
Those little things fall apart and feel like they'd break doing anything. Luckily I had tweezers in one of my screwdriver kits or I'd have been screwed harder than the tri-wings.

After some assembly I was able to clamp things together. After more suffering because at least once the springy things for the L and R button came loose again and I had to do it again. Slotted the battery in and the thing booted. Except there was another problem because this stuff's impossible.
This sucked. So I had to disassemble it again. At least the hinge didn't have to be unscrewed off. But it sucked. A lot. I must've taken like 20-30 minutes getting the ABXY buttons correct (and having to look up what the button order is, because uh, X and Y...)

About 90-120 minutes after starting, I think everything works. System booted, had to put information back in (now that buttons worked this time) and even the L and R buttons didn't break. Sometime maybe I could try to fix the top screen, since the edges of the screen's got this distorted coloration, but it's mostly noticeable if the screen's full on white. There's quite a skill gap between what I did and trying to put these ribbons in and out and all around. And even full on disassembly beyond what I did. I don't think I'm quite gonna jump at that right away. For now, the DS works, and I can play all the McDonalds training software I want.
